In 2018, the Smith family legacy came full circle.
That year, Curt Smith Jr. debuted a new 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, built as a tribute to his grandfather Earl’s legendary 1969 Camaro, “Shakedown.” With Earl’s original car tragically lost in a shop fire earlier that year, the moment carried deep meaning for the entire family.
Curt Jr. honored that history by naming the new car “Shakedown 2.” More than just a race car, it was a rolling tribute—connecting generations through steel, horsepower, and memory. Every pass down the track carried the spirit of Earl’s original machine, preserving its legacy in a new form.
With the debut of Shakedown 2, Curt Smith Jr. didn’t just replace a lost car—he ensured that a piece of Smith racing history would continue to live on.
