That year, Curtis captured his fourth IHRA Winternationals victory, a rare and remarkable achievement that earned him the nickname “Mr. Winternationals.” The win showcased his trademark consistency and ability to perform at the highest level right out of the gate, setting the tone for another successful season.
Darlington Dragway had long been one of Curtis’s strongest venues, and the 1996 Winternationals only added to his legacy there. Over the years, Curtis established himself as one of the all-time winningest racers at Darlington, a testament to his mastery of the track and his relentless competitive drive.
