From 1990 through 1995, Curtis Smith turned Bristol Dragway into his personal stronghold.
During that six-season stretch, Curtis was nothing short of legendary—and nearly unbeatable. Time after time, he rose to the occasion at one of the toughest tracks on the schedule, mastering its unique surface and ever-changing conditions. The results were historic: four IHRA Fall Nationals victories in six seasons, a level of dominance that remains almost unheard of today.
Each win added to the aura. Competitors knew that if Curtis was in the field at Bristol, the road to victory ran straight through him. Precision driving, flawless consistency, and an unmatched understanding of the track allowed him to deliver when the pressure was highest.
By the mid-1990s, Curtis Smith’s name was permanently tied to Bristol Dragway. That remarkable run from 1990 to 1995 didn’t just add trophies—it defined an era and cemented his reputation as one of the greatest performers the track had ever seen.
