In 1983, the Smith family legacy hit another milestone.
Curtis Smith, carrying the torch of the family tradition, drove his father’s 1969 Chevrolet Camaro “Shakedown” to victory at the NHRA Little Guy Nationals at Suffolk Raceway. Competing in Stock Eliminator, Curtis skillfully navigated through the rounds, combining precision driving with the proven performance of the Camaro.
When the final round ended, Curtis stood triumphant, claiming Stock Eliminator honors and proving that the next generation of Smith racers was ready to make its mark on the national stage. The victory cemented the Camaro “Shakedown” as a legendary car in the family’s racing history and highlighted Curtis’s emerging talent and determination.
