Third Generation driver Curt Smith Jr. entered Coastal Plains Raceway Park fresh off his early August win. During race #1 of the September 9th Saturday CCRA double header, Curt Smith Jr. narrowly missed out on the dash for cash, running a 7.192 on a 7.19 dial in, dead on by two thousandths of a second. Losing in the first round with a four thousandths of a second breakout in the first race of the day, Curt Jr. looked to do better in the night race. During the second race, Curt Jr. lost out from going to the semi finals by one hundredth of a second to Tim Sloan, ending Curt Jr's bid for a second career win to just a Quarter Final Finish. Curt Jr. added on to his impressive 2023 showing, going to the Quarter Finals or farther 80% of the time in his races during the 2023 season.
